Chrome Plating is a process to deposite a layer of chrome on the surface of metal parts. Chromium layer has a high hardness from 400 to 1200HV according to bath composition and process conditions. Its friction coefficient is small, especially the dry friction coefficient, the lowest in all metals. So chrome layer has good wear resistance. The chrome layer has good chemical stability and does not act in bases, sulfides, nitric acid and most organic acids, but is soluble in hydrochloric acid (such as hydrochloric acid) and hot sulfuric acid. Due to its excellent performance, the chrome layer is widely used as the outer surface and functional coating of protective decorative coating system.
